Firm Power Solutions believes financially sustainable decarbonization must include low-carbon as well as carbon-free Distributed Energy Resource (DER) systems. With the scalable deployment of our natural gas driven DER systems, we can quickly help the grid become cleaner, more resilient and affordable while transitioning to a carbon-free footprint. Our DER systems are designed with versatility so they can adapt to market changes as utilities curtail, divest or retire centralized coal and gas generation while adding renewables and storage.

We offer 100% off-balance sheet financing with options for FPS and utility-owned structures. Regardless, savings are immediate and meaningful with multiple options that include no to limited upfront capital required by our customers. With full island mode capabilities, our DERs will help to avoid financial losses incurred by grid disruptions and outages.
Sustainability
We can deliver Scope 1 GHG reductions of 20-75% and Scope 2 GHG reductions of 10-65% compared to centralized coal and gas plants because we use high-efficient generators, make use of waste heat when possible and avoid T&D losses. Our systems compliment the addition of renewables to the grid while adding pressure on utilities to expedite the retirement (or divestment) of their centralized fossil generation.
Efficiency
Natural gas driven DERs deliver power more efficiently than centralized fossil generation. FPS DER solutions are optimally sized for the loads they serve making them very efficient. DERs avoid line losses from both the transmission grid and from the local utility transmission and distribution (T&D) system. These losses run 5-10% or more in most regions. Combined Heat & Power (CHP) systems offer overall energy efficiencies of 60-80% versus central power plants with efficiencies of 30-50%.

The only certainty in the energy industry is change. FPS systems are designed with versatility to meet the changing needs or your business as well as the changing energy markets. Our DERs offer multiple operating modes, including: Base Load, Time of Use (TOU), Peak Shaving, and Backup Power. As such, they can offer optimum value under a variety of market and rate designs. Reliability & Resiliency
Our DER systems typically operate in parallel with the grid and can be designed with redundancy and automatic switching for full island mode operation to keep your facility running when the grid loses power.
Turnkey
Most of our customers do not have the time, focus or expertise to take on the development, financing, installation or operations of most DER systems. Our deep bench of industry experts with balance sheets to financially backstop our projects helps us limit the time and effort required by our customers.
